SGGEE is pleased to announce that it has created a new mail list (also known by other names such as listserv) for the use of genealogists researching Germans in Russian Poland and Volhynia. The vast majority of these Germans were of the Lutheran faith. The name of this service, as you will see it in the subject line of the messages, is [Ger-Poland-Volhynia]. Although sponsored by SGGEE, you do not have to be an SGGEE member to subscribe to the mailing list. Your subscription to [Ger-Poland-Volhynia] will mean that most messages you receive will be more directly associated with your regions of interest. There is no charge for this service. [Ger-Poland-Volhynia] will allow you to freely interact with others in posing questions, to establish family connections, to provide answers that derive from your personal research experiences, and to learn from the successes and failures of others. SGGEE will continue to maintain its Bulletin Board as long as it continues to be used. The Bulletin Board will still likely be used by people who are surfing the Net and by those who prefer not to subscribe to any mail lists. The mailing list we have created uses a system (known as Mailman) which we feel is easier than any other to use and to set with your preferences. Instead of sending special email messages that must be created in a specific format to function correctly, you simply go to a web page to create your own unique service protected with a password. You can also use that web page to start and stop your service when you are on vacation. The mailing list is archived so that you can go to a web page to read or review all past messages.
