Kathryne Schock Staiger Schmautz, 88, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at her home in Missoula, MT. Mrs. Schmautz was born to Jacob and Kathryne Diede BERTSCH April 11, 1913, near Ashley, ND, where she was raised and educated. She was married to Theodore Schock in 1941. Theodore passed away in 1966. In 1968 she was married to Emanuel Staiger and moved to Missoula, MT. He passed away in 1987. In 1995 she married Herb Schmautz, who passed away in 1997. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Missoula and a long time member of Ashley Baptist Church, Ashley, ND. Kathryne is survived by her sister, Freda Weisser, of Sacramento, CA, two daughters, Anne Marie Schock of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Nancy Fassas and her husband, Tarcy, of Lexington, KY, two sons and their wives, Tracy and Ursula Schock of Ashley and Sidney and Susan Schock of Fargo, ND, six grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrew Fassas of Lexington, KY, Joshua and Lindsay Schock of Ashley and Maegan and Joanna Schock of Fargo. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Missoula, with the Rev. David Winters officiating. A memorial service at Ashley Baptist Church and interment will be held in Ashley at a later date.
