    3. Hello, List-ers..... I have begun searching for KEMNITZ. Frederick August Kemnitz was born on Nov. 3, 1826 in Neuenberg, Prussia, which may have been a part of Poland at the time. He died on March 26, 1907 and is buried in the Rosendale Cemetery in Fondulac, WI. He married Mary Louise FIETING (October 17, 1826-May 8, 1906) and boarded the ship "Bruwbark Concordia" in Bremen...coming to NY in 1857. Ship lists state that he came from Schoneberg. Would like to find his verified birthplace! Any help would be appreciated! joanne

    3. Hello Joanne, The Karl Stumpp book "Die Auswanderung" contains a large section with "Verzeichnis der Orte in Polen" ; a list of placenames in Poland... We find possibles in: Neuenburg [ G-2 ] and Schoendorf ( b. Bromberg ) [ G-2 ] or Schoenbeck [ O-4 ] ??? Unfortunately no immediate matches; i tried to find places in the same locale. Due to language confusion a name like "berg" could be "burg" and Schoneberg could be Schoenbeck... Also not that Stumpp himself mentions that the list is by no means complete.... He listed the bulk of the villages that provided settlers to S.Russia. Another thought is to have the region in Poland, for instance if the places are in POSEN, or POZNAN then we're out of luck here; those are mostly in the [ E-3 ] block... Hope this helps somewhat... ;j. ----- Original Message ----- From: "joanne hummel" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2001 11:23 AM Subject: [GERmanRUSsian] KEMNITZ > Hello, List-ers..... > I have begun searching for KEMNITZ. > Frederick August Kemnitz was born on > Nov. 3, 1826 in Neuenberg, Prussia, > which may have been a part of Poland > at the time.
