    3. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 12-19-01 Richard Erwin Richard Lloyd Erwin, 78, of Greeley died Sunday, Dec. 16, Greeley at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Speerville, Kan., to Wilbur Esta and Eleanore (Klein) Erwin. On Sept. 10, 1944, he married June Joyce Beghin at Chanute Field Army Base, now Chanute Air Force Base, in Champaign, Ill. Mr. Erwin attended Denver University for two years before joining the Army Signal Corps. He earned four Battle Stars, an American Service Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He started in retail at Eaker’s Department Store in Denver. He was director of personnel for the Denver Dry Goods Co. and Denver Dry Goods regional sales manager. During his retirement years, he was lead salesman for the Better Business Bureau and regional manager. Mr. Erwin was a member of Optimist International, served on the Urban Renewal Board, was a DECA placement counselor, and was a member of the Greeley Elks BPOE 809 and Knights of Columbus. His devoted dog “Taco” was his best friend. Survivors are his wife, June Erwin of Greeley; two sons, Richard Kevin Erwin of Palm Springs, Calif., and Larry Richard Erwin of Longmont; and a granddaughter. His parents and two brothers are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Staging Area “C” in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Friends may visit from noon-8 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-noon Thursday at Stoddard Funeral
