Don Hochstatter was kind enough to extract data for us from the free 1910 Washington State census. His post to our list was too large , so I have editted same and am posting in segments... Enjoy, there's a tremendous amount of data here!!! Many thanx to Don! Here is the start of Don's post; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Don: There is a free 1910 Washington State census (most counties) at www.rootsweb.com/~wagenweb/1910/index.html I have imported all into excel and sorted it. Below are all the persons born in Russia with their ages in Grant and Adams Counties. I can post more counties if it is desired. Note these are not usually whole families as the younger generation are quite often born in the US. The families can be pieced together at the website above or let me know and I can send them. Many of the people below are listed in the 1920 census at www.webbitt.com/volga/ Adams county has quite a few resources on the web for these people at www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/adams/adams.htm I especially like the obituaries at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/adams/ritzobits.htm I have connections to many of these people and would love to exchange data with people who have info on these people. Michael, Thank you for your kind offer. I am interested in any Ackerman or Ackermann who came to either Canada or the USA. Hello all, Here is a fairly decent entry. It would seem that some of the Ackerman's came to BC fairly early on. I have one Bernard Ackerman married to a Klotz girl. I am wondering if anyone has access to research material that would help me determine when either of my greatgrandparents may have come from Russia/Poland to Canada. BlankLet me try this again. I forgot to turn off 'fancy font' last posting. Here it is again. Hi All: Here is a link to Social Security newsletters, current and back issues. The December 2003 issue has full information, address, costs for researching original applications and claims. A lot of us have exhausted this avenue, but for newer researchers it can be a boon, and helpful also for researchers working or starting on another branch of their line. http://www.ssa.gov/enews/prior.htm Cheers, Karleene on the coast of Oregon

Seasons greeting everyone! I just received the 1940 registration (CDN) for my great uncle. It gives his birth place as Poulin Russia. I tried Shtetl seeker but there are many listed. The only other clue I have is his brother's naturalization gave his birth place as Warshau, Poland. I though Poulin may be Poland, but on the line below it gives Poland for his parents birth place (not town though). It also gave him serving from 1896 to 1910 in the Russian military, 85th regiment. I know from family history that he was a payroll train guard during the RussoJapanese war. My questions are: Any hints or helps on where Poulin may be, or possibly the correct spelling of it? and secondly, I tried a google search on "Russia" Military, History, 85th regiment but all I get is WWI and WWII stuff. Are there any good pre WWI sites on Russian Military? Any assistance greatly appreciated, as this is the only way I'm able to find out about my grandmother as she didn't appear to leave any paper trail in Canada, so I'm scouting out her brothers. Good Evening Folks, Hope the season finds everyone well. This next post includes many names that I have in my tree. Please let me know if there are any matches. For those that are unfamiliar with this series of posts, they are folks that have come from the BC Vital Stats records. The surnames are those that I am researching. Some of the individuals are in my tree some are not. Any of those folks that have Ger-Rus connections or commonality to those folks. I have made a copy of the record and have it here at my residence. Most are death records as they will not publicly release birth information until 100 years after the event. Marriages are 75 years and deaths are 20 years. If you wish to see information on these folks below, just let me know and I will scan the record in and e.mail a copy to you. Good luck. A friend and I have been looking for records for Rudetz / Graudenz n. Kulm, Poland which was in Prussia for the year 1807. Here is what my friend wrote last: <<Yes, I have found the map.The archive in Berlin wrote that they could not find a record because they have church records of Kulm and Graudenz but not of all villages around them. And some of the church records have lack between 17.. and 1807. So we need to find another way to get a record. >> Anyone out there have any suggestions. remmick@aol.com

Hello All, Been a long time since I have posted to the groups. I am back for the winter or so it seems. I have a seaonal job so genealogy takes a back seat for a little while at least. For those new to the groups or for those that dont remember, I had been making visits to the local genealogy library here in Cloverdale to research family names. While looking through the B/M/D files for my German/Russian families in BC I had come across other folks unrelated but coming from the same areas with the same surnames. I wanted to pay forward some of the favors that have been given to me and so have taken many of those surnames that I was interested in and have made lists of names for folks to compare with their own research. If you find that you have a match, drop me a note and I would be happy to send what information I have on them to you. This little group of people are near and dear to me. They are almost all related to me but one. Love to hear from you. Dear List Members: I hope someone has some information or guidance for me regarding my family genealogy research. Below I have noted literally all we know about these members of my family and things that are intriguing and could be relevant. I know very little, basically nothing, of the process to research my family in Russia and before that, in Germany. I live in Virginia and am not able to travel for research at this time. I hope to post this information on a few relevant lists/board in hope someone will have some guidance to give. Thank you all for your time in looking at this information. Sophie Bernard Virginia, USA Alexander RIGELHOF born: 14 July 1872 in Kustarevo (Neu-Kolonie/New-Colonie); Samara district; Seelman canton. d. July, 1936 Ont. Canada. He was a blacksmith by trade. Married Susanna OPEL who was a school teacher. Born 1871 or 1873, died in May 8, 1941 in Ontario. She may have had a sister ?Agnes? who was a nun in Saskatchewan. They had several children, 8 is the possible number. One daughter (perhaps more) could have been named Veronica or Victoria, born ?, died ? before 1917. Sons: Charles Alexander b. 1900 d. 1981; George (i) b. ? died January 23 1916?; John Philip b. 1910 (born in Russia) d. 1973; George Peter (ii) b. 1916 (born in Pr. Albert, Sask., Canada) d. 1992; others unknown - said to have died in youth. Alexander immigrated (between 1910 and 1916) we believe in 1912 to Canada - destination: Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and was still there in 1916. This hypothesis is based (and fits the understood time line) on Ships record (which we question if it is applicable): SS Victorian Depart Liverpool 22 Nov 1912 Arrive Halifax 29 Nov 1912 Richelhof, Alexander 40 years old destination Prince Albert Saskatchewan Michael 36 years old destination Prince Albert Saskatchewan Susanna and the children must have traveled later. Or before????? They moved to Ford City, Ontario sometime between 1916 and 1924 (very probably earlier than later. He Naturalized in 1928 in Ontario as Alex Rigelhoff born in Rustarevo [sic], Russia. Naturalization of Charles Alexander Rigelhof (definitely was Alexanders son): Rigelhof, Charles Alexander Born in : Germany (???) Wife, naturalized with him, Agatha Ubell Oath Nov 12 1930 Mechanic, Riverside Ont. I know these alternative spellings could be possibilities: Rigelhof Rigelhoff Rigelhop Riglehof Regelhof Reckelhoff Reekelhoff Rekelhof Reigelhof Richelhof Rigel Interesting clues: ~1908 St. Francis Mission of the St. Joseph's Catholic Settlement in Saskatchewan, in the town of Luseland - "The first Parishers were Jacob Ulrick, John German and Family, Peter Gerinsky and Family, John Rigelhof, Frank Schmitt and Adam Heilman." Also spelled Reigelhof in another reference that states he was there with three sons-in-law - we would love to know who they were! This puts a Rigelhof in Saskatchewan BEFORE 1912 . . . Known to the elders in our family that there were/are extended family members in Minnesota or eventually ended up in Minnesota perhaps via Canada. Pure conjecture based on Western Land Grants (Canada) that Alexander Rigelhof and his potential brothers or cousins all came to Canada (Sask.) around the same time. We appear to know that a family member named did Michael travel with Alexander (if the ship's manifest does pertain to our Alexander) but the others could have come earlier or later. I have found in the Western Land Grants from 1870-1930 entries for Henry Rigelhof, George Rigelhof, Frederick Rigelhof, Johannes Richelhof and Anthony F. Rigelhop. This George Rigelhof is NOT the surviving child George (ii) of Alexander Rigelhof - of this I am totally certain. Most of these grants appear to be for land in Alberta near the border to Saskatchewan or in Saskatchewan. I found, and have no way of knowing if it is a connection, a death record for a Michael Rigelhof in 1953 in Minnesota - Hennepin County. Also an entry for a George Rigelhof d. 1963 in Minnesota - Ramsey County - as well. This is NOT George (ii) of Alexanders. A naturalization record for an Antony Frederick Rigelhof, born in Russia, oath in 1920, occupation - clerk, lived in Altario, Alberta. An entry on a passenger list for the SS Ausonia for Regelhoff, Heinrich age 18, departed Southampton 16 May 1912, arrived Quebec 26 May 1912 destination Battlford [sic] SK. Found two entries for canceled cattle brands listed for (which I need to follow up on for more information): Rigelhof, George from Altario Richelhoff, Fred from Donalda __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
