    1. Wilhelm Koenig born Jan. 1874
    2. Kathy Clark
    3. I have a Wilhelm Koenig, son of Peter Koenig and Carolina Leischner. He was born 19 January 1874 in Russia. Other than his birthday and name of parents I don't have anything else. I also have a Wilhelm Koenig who died about 1935, married to Charlotte Essig - But I don't have a date of birth or parents for Wilhelm. I can see where Charlotte could be Sharlotta (below), but the age I have is off by about 5 years - which could just be an error during the census? I don't have any children for Wilhelm Koenig and Charlotte Essig. After he died she married Alphonse Baune. I found the following Wilhelm Koenig on the 1910 census in McIntosh County - does any of this match? If not, does anyone on the list know any of the Wilhelm Koenigs? KOENIG, Wilhelm age 36 married 14 years, born in Russia, came to U.S. in 1894 page 249A-30-31 KOENIG, Sharlota age 37 had 9 children, 8 living born in ND KOENIG, Paulina age 13 born in ND KOENIG, Arthur age 10 born in ND KOENIG, Ottilia age 9 born in ND KOENIG, Robert age 7 born in ND KOENIG, Bertha age 5 born in ND KOENIG, Henry age 3 born in ND KOENIG, Martha age 2 born in ND KOENIG, Edgar age 3 mo. born in ND Kathy

    1. I'm My Own Grandpaw < by Dwight Latham and Moe Jaffe >
    2. GerRus_Genitor
    3. Many, many years ago when I was twenty-three I was married to a widow who was pretty as could be. This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red. My father fell in love with her and soon they, too, were wed. This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life For my daughter was my mother, 'cause she was my father's wife. To complicate the matter, even though it brought me joy I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy. Chorus My little baby then became a brother-in-law to dad And so became my uncle, though it made me very sad For if he was my uncle, then that also made him brother To the widow's grown-up daughter, who, of course, was my step-mother. My father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run And he became my grand-child, 'cause he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother, and it makes me blue Because, although she is my wife, she's my grandmother too. Chorus If my wife is my grandmother, then I am her grandchild And every time I think of it, it nearly drives me wild For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw (This has got to be the strangest thing I ever saw) As husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpaw. Chorus: I'm my own grandpaw I'm my own grandpaw It sounds funny I know but it really is so Oh, I'm my own grandpaw.

    3. The following obit is from the online edition of the "Ashley Tribune" from Ashley, McIntosh County, ND, April 23, 2004. I'm trying to verify that his stepmom Christina Woehl was nee Hildenbrand. I have Christina Hildenbrand married to Christian J. Maier. She was first married to Jacob Becker in 1920, he passed away in 1927. She then married Christian J. Maier, who passed away in 1959, then later married Fred Woehl in 1975. Does anyone have info on the marriage of Christian J. Maier and Lydia Walz? Kathy Ted Maier Fargo, ND-Funeral service for Theodore “Ted” Maier, 91, of Fargo and formerly of Ashley was at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. The Rev. Jeff Giles officiated. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Ashley. He died April 11, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Fargo. Theodore Maier, son of Christ J. and Lydia (Walz) Maier was born November 13, 1912, near Ashley, ND. He grew up on the family farm eight miles east of Ashley, which was homesteaded by his grandfather Jacob Maier in 1886. He completed the eighth grade in a rural school in his home district. He then began farming with his father until 1935 when he took over the family farm. He was united in marriage to Viola Sackmann on October 20, 1935, in Peace Lutheran Church, rural Ashley. They farmed until 1987. His wife died February 13, 1987, and Ted retired from farming. He rented out the cropland and continued to live on the farm until 1994 when he moved to Moorhead to live with his daughters. He entered Rosewood Care Center in July of 2000. Besides Theodore’s love for farming, his family and his faith were priorities in his life. He loved the outdoors and animals, especially horses. He took an active part in the welfare of the community and was on the board for the Ashley Jubilee in 1963. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he had been a past council member and a past member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as first deacon for 21 years. He was also a past director of McIntosh County Memorial Hospital, past clerk of Iowa School District for 16 years and past member of McIntosh County Livestock Association. Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn (David) Dorsett of Corona, SD and Amy Maier and Sharon Maier, both of Moorhead, MN, two sisters, Elsie Bertsch and Esther Eszlinger, both of Ashley, two grandsons, Mark (Judy) Dorsett of Frisco, Texas and Gregg (Dawn) Dorsett of Kansas City, Kansas and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Alex and Jenna Dorsett. His parents, step-mother, Christina Wohl, wife and three sisters, Anna Jerke, Maggie Puhlmann and Ida Maier preceded him in death. Casketbearers will be Curtis Bendewald, James Heupel, Vince Salzer, Rev. Emil Eberhart, Delbert Bertsch and Vaughn Salzer. The eulogist was David Dorsett. The organist was Steve Glaesmann and the soloist was Vera Glur. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley was entrusted with the arrangements.
