Dear Listers, The Germans from Russia extraction index for Grant County, Washington from the 1920 U.S. Federal Census has been posted on the Volga Web Site at the following URL < http://www.webbitt.com/volga/index.htm >. I would like to thank Patrice Miller the owner of this site for all of her work in posting these extraction and for providing the web space on her site. Without a place to go with these extractions they would have little value. Sincerely, Gene Jenkins Selah, WA.

    2. ÷j.
    3. That would be St. Petersburg of course... When WWI broke out in August 1914 it was decided to change the name of the Russian capital from St. Petersburg to Petrograd. The old name sounded too German for contemporary Russians. Have a look at the history of the name change on: http://www.cityvision2000.com/history/petrograd.htm Btw. can we have these queries on the NON-genealogy forums please....
