Karen - Galicia isn't a town, it's an area north of the Carpathian Mountains. Unless there's another one... Hi. I am new to this list. We are connected to a weaver, Jacob MUELLER, who lived in Ibersheim in 1753 and was married to a Susanna ?. They had three children: * Marie, born 15 Dec 1760, died 10 Oct 1794, married Johann VON HOWEN, Junior 5 Aug 1785. * Minister Heinrich, born 1758 * Jacob, came to Galcia in 1785 from the Palatinate. He died in the Paltinate Pfalz, Germany (Ger. Rheinland). His wife (unknown) who died before 1785 in Austria. This Mueller family, although originally from Switzerland, lived for a time at the Schafbusch, a Mennonite estate near the city of Weissenburg in the Alsace on their migrational route to the Palatinate. Now I have found a Jacob Mueller 1753-1827, born at Ibersheim, South Germany, who was the first elder of the Mennonite Church at Einsiedel, Galacia and an outstanding pioneer leader of the settlement. A number of his letters were written to relatives in the Paltinate, which were pritned by Bachman, contain valuable information about the early Mennontie settlement in Galacia. He died Sept. 11, 1827 after having served the congregation for 43 years. Thsi is from P. Bachman, Mennonites in Kleinpolen 1784-1934 (Lemberg, 1934) 134-43. What is his connection, if any? Also, a Jacob MUELLER, born 1834 in Ehrenfeld, died 1914. How close was this area to Ibersheim? Thanks Karen http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kmiller/mueller.htm
Hi :j, First, the easy stuff. In Friedenstal, I have John Schaffer Sr. who married Christina Berst (no birthdates). Their children were John, Samuel, and Christina (b. 1898). John Sr. died in a flour mill accident in 1897/98. BELLON - Mainly from Waterloo, Neusatz Parish. The links into my family are: 1-Karolina BELLON (b 10 Apr 1844) married Jakob GROSS (b 15 Aug 1838) 2-Andreas Bellon (b abt 1832) married Maria Magdalena FRANK (b 2 Sep 1834). I have more on the Bellons and we could compare if this is the same family. I believe these are the Bellons listed in Height's book that helped found Waterloo. HECKENLAIBLE - The farthest back I have found is Karl HECKENLAIBLE (b abt 1785 in Willsbach, Germany), and his wife Dorothea (b abt 1790 in Shepbach, Germany). Their son Jakob Leonard HECKENLAIBLE (b abt 1819) married Katharina SCHACHER (b. 6 Feb 1819). Their son was Jakob HECKENLAIBLE (b 29 Aug 1846 in Waterloo) who married Katharina GROSS (b abt 1849). Katharina was a sister of my gggrandfather Gottlieb GROSS. I've also got more on this line. Hope this helps.
