Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 11-04-01 Carson Zink Carson R. Zink, 96, of Grover died Thursday, Nov. 1, at Fairacres Manor. He was born May 21, 1905, in Greenfield, Ill., to Eli and Clara Maude (Adcock) Zink. On Oct. 11, 1955, he married Gladys (Rasmussen) Zink in Sidney, Neb. Mr. Zink farmed most of his life. He owned and operated a TV and small appliance repair shop as well, and sold machinery tools. He loved to bowl, play cards with his neighbors and travel to Illinois to visit his family. He was a member of the Wisetown Baptist Church in Illinois and the Farm Bureau. Survivors are his wife, Gladys (Rasmussen) Zink of Grover; two stepdaughters, Anne Cole of Greeley and Doris Williams of Derry, Pa.; two sisters, Florance Philip of Fort Collins and Iva Werner of Greeley; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A stepson, Stan Pendergraft, and two brothers, Vernon Zink and Paul Zink, are deceased. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the West Chapel. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Friendship Alliance Church in Grover in care of the West Chapel.
Hamilton, Mont. - Edna Hoffman, 77, of Hamilton and formerly of Ashley, N.D., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at the Arron Care Home in Corvallis, Mont. Edna Walz was born Dec. 29, 1923, to John and Magdalena Walz in Ashley. She married Oscar Hoffman of Ashley in 1942. They settled in Great Falls. He died in 1970. She moved to Hamilton in 1994 to be close to her daughter. She was an active charter member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Great Falls and later became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Roe of Hamilton; one brother, Alvin Walz of Ashley; two sisters, Emelia Schulz and Anna Golnick, both of Lodi, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, two sisters, one daughter and one son.
Streeter, N.D. - Walter Rall, 74, of Streeter and formerly of Forbes, N.D., died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown, N.D. Burial will be in the Ellendale Cemetery in Ellendale, N.D. Walter Rall was born Aug. 29, 1927, to Fred and Elizabeth (Schweigert) Rall near Forbes. He received his elementary education at the local rural school and he grew up in the Forbes area. He helped on the family farm. In 1953, he took over the farm and operated it until 1967. He moved to Streeter and in 1969 started driving the Streeter School bus. He drove until 1986 when he semi-retired. He continued to reside in Streeter. Linton, N.D. - The funeral for Della W. Flegel, 83, of Linton died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at her residence. Della W. Bechtle was born Jan. 12, 1918, to Gottlieb and Eva A. (Schaefer) Bechtle in Linton. She attended Linton Public School and graduated from high school in 1936. She worked for the Emmons County Welfare Board for several years. She married William E. Flegel on May 10, 1942, in Linton. In 1963 she began working at the Emmons County Record as a social editor and bookkeeper, working for several editors. She was employed there at the time of her death. She was a member of the Linton United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and on various committees including the church board and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Emmons County Historical Society, Linton Hospital Auxiliary and Linton Senior Citizens, All Class Reunion Committee and many others. She was also a 4-H leader, Youth Fellowship leader and worked with her husband with the Linton Cub Scouts. Survivors include one son, William Alen (Nancy) Flegel of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Colleen (Steven) Peterson of Carpio, N.D., and Cheryl (Eldor) Scheid of Fargo, N.D.; two sisters, Lavina Flegel of Great Falls, Mont., and Juanita Lundell of Green Bay, Wis.; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Aberdeen - David Schaible, 92, of 1224 S. High St. died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. David Schaible was born Dec. 22, 1908, to Johann and Magdalene (Schmitt) Schaible in McPherson County. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He married Bertha Vossler on May 25, 1930, in Eureka. They lived there until 1942, when they moved to Aberdeen. He worked at a bakery where he delivered baked goods and later worked for the South Dakota Highway Department for 17 years before he retired. He moved to the Bethesda Home of Aberdeen May 5, 2000. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and was a past member of the Moose Lodge. Survivors include two sons, Emanuel Schaible of Moses Lake, Wash., and Harley Schaible of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Shirley Boschee of Aberdeen; one brother, Adolph Schaible of Leola; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgranddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, nine brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Edward "Ed" Muller, 69, of Lodi, died July 31 in a local hospital of natural causes after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 13, 1932, in Gackle, N.D., where he was reared and graduated from high school. Mr. Muller came to Lodi in 1952, and was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was discharged in 1954 and returned to Lodi and married Adeline Janke on Aug. 12, 1955. He was employed by Spiekerman's, John Mansville, and Mason Packing. He was then employed as a utility operator by the City of Lodi for 27 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Lockeford VFW Post No. 9009, Lodi American Legion Post No. 22, the Lodi Order of Eagles Lodge No. 848, and the Lodi Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 634. He is survived by his wife, Adeline Muller of Lodi; children, Debra Muller and Barry Muller, both of Lodi; sister Emma Kundert of Lodi; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jake, Adolph and Art Muller.
Martha Kempf, 94, of Lodi, died July 29 2001 in a local convalescent hospital of natural causes after a brief illness. She was born on May 12, 1907, in Ashley, N.D. Mrs. Kempf was a homemaker and resided in Ashland, Ore., Medford, Ore., and Sacramento. She enjoyed playing the organ, doing crafts and quilting. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Kempf; daughters, Irene and Anna Kempf; and 18 brothers and sisters.
Leonard Preszler, 85, of Lodi, died Sept. 15 at his home of natural causes after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 9, 1916, in Lodi. Mr. Preszler lived his entire life in Lodi except from 1970 to 1978, when he lived in San Pedro. He was a longshoreman for 25 years and a farmer for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Mildred I. Preszler of Lodi; daughter, Lynn Edmondson of East Liverpool, Ohio; sister, Martha Harris; and one grandson.
Emanuel "Lee" Lutz, 74, of Lodi, died Sept. 18 , 2001 in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Greenway, S.D. Mr. Lutz lived in Lodi for 45 years and was a mechanic at Stockton Dodge for 18 years. He was a member of the 50-Plus Club. He is survived by his wife, Adeline Lutz of Lodi; children, Brenda K. Neto and Michael David Lutz of Lodi; sisters, Rose Fischer and Elsie Knoepfle of Eureka, S.D.; and two grandchildren.
Levern "Leo" Seibel, 77, of Lodi died Sept. 22 at his home in Lodi. A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Seibel moved to Lodi in 1941, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II and in the Korean War. Seibel was the manager of Seibel's Rest Home in Woodbridge for many years, and later worked as a door-to-door salesman. He was a member of English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church and Lodi Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Seibel of Lodi; his son, Bob Hiser of Stockton and daughter Shirley Dilley of Tulsa, Okla.; brothers Marvin Seibel of Oregon and Emo Seibel of Hawaii; sister Evelyn Miller of Fresno; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Emma Larson, 87, of Lodi, died Sept. 25 in a local convalescent hospital of natural causes. She was born Emma Zimmerman on May 16, 1914, in Gackle, N.D. Mrs. Larson was a resident of the area for 14 years. She also resided in Fargo, N.D. She worked as a retail clerk. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Lehr of Acampo and Lydia Mueller of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Larson; three brothers and two sisters. There will be a private celebration of her life. Committal will be in Gackle, N.D.
