Dear Listers, I would personally like to thank Janet Laubhan Flickinger for her work on the partial Marion County extraction and the many hours that she put into it. She did an excellent job on the part that she was able to extract. Sincerely, Gene Jenkins Selah, WA.
-------- Original Message -------- Subject: [GV] Marion County, KS 1920 census index now online From: Patrice Miller <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I am pleased to annouce that the Marion County, KS 1920 census index is now online thanks to Janet Laubhan Flickinger. Janet can be reached at: [email protected] The index includes 3,000 people (WOW!) and covers enumeration districts 65-75. It is not a complete index of the entire county yet, it will be completed at a later time but we wanted to get the names up on the web now. A more detailed description of the towns included in this index is in the description at the beginning of the index. To access the index go to: http://www.webbitt.com/volga/ and click on the census index link. Then click on the Marion county link. If you have done GR research on the web you will recognize Janet's name because she has indexed so many ship indexes. Thank you Janet!

Dear Group, I have found a ship listing of a Agatha ? wife of Johann Dirksen who immigrated in 1885. This seems to fit the family of Johann Dirksen born Oct 4, 1836 and his wife Ida as listed on 1900 census in Stutsman Co, North Dakota. Does any one know if a possible nick name for Agatha would be 'Ida'? I do see where her granddaughter Agnes went by 'Ida'. Also there is a listings of a 'Stella' on 1900 census who I think is a Justina. Has any one heard of this for a derivative name? I realize it may have just been a mistake or a 2nd wife but I wanted to check it out. Thanks, Kathy +++++Researching family names of Penner, Jost, Gaede, Loewen, Funk, Regehr, Dirksen/Duerksen, Leppke, Fenske, Sperling, Ewy, Harms, Isaac, Born, Remple, Albert, Feierherrn/Frierhelm and Thiessen, +++++

At the present time the Rootsweb BROWSE function is - again - not functioning. It got hung up before 9 / 11, and hasn't functioned since. But there are work arounds. For instance do a SEARCH for "Nov 2001" , including the doublequotes and you will see all Nov 2001 messages. Not recommended on something like Virus-Discussion-L 'cause of the high volume. If you feel that the BROWSE functionality is NEEDED, don't hesitate to contact the Rootsweb Helpdesk See http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help.cgi via HELP on http://www.rootsweb.com/ E H!
Robertl, If your ancestors came after 1902 maybe they are on the Ellis Island site. Use this site to find them when the names are misspelled. It took me a while but I found my Penner family here but it was spelled Pamer http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html These other sites may help also.
