[ With many apologies to Dennis ROLL , i write this: ] Folks can also access information about ROLL calls by going to http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=GermanRussian and asking for "ROLL and call" That should give U an idea about what names have come up on this list... E.g. As I posted HUMMEL as one of the < main > names that i'm researching asking for "ROLL and call and HUMMEL" will show U what else i'm looking for.... It will show ALL roll calls that mention HUMMEL ... as well as my January post: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/G/GermanRussian+2003+368626575+F I find it very useful to be able to review what was posted previously and has been saved in the Archives. < I have to admit that my memory is no longer a stainless steel trap! One of the joys in the life of a List Keeper is dealing with people who are not considerate enough to live by the rules set out for a list < be it by Rootsweb, or by the List Keeper > . The worst offenders are the people who SPAM lists with messages hoping to find "customers".*** These people - who are after financial advantage for themselves and who flood Rootsweb lists with messages - usually find themselves totally BANNED. The message below that was posted by "the project manager for the new Graber and variants DNA project " qualifies. "Patricia" is now toast here. A complaint has already been lodged with Rootsweb, and we should not see any further messages of this nature. I trust that others will take note, and that nobody else gets on that bandwagon to make a few bucks via genealogy, and then tries to "market" via these lists which are for genuine GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH... Helping one-another and sharing is one thing < encouraged !!! > ; peddling wares is quite another and does NOT BELONG on this or other Rootsweb lists < there are other ways of doing that... > Btw. most of the time it is just the List Keeper who sees the SPAM or the UCE , and has to deal with it; see footnote about "most SPAM" > ==== GermanRussian Mailing List ==== > RootsWeb's mailing lists are filtered and most SPAM is intercepted. which ironically was attached on the very message that we are talking about here... < Today list SPAM etc. only took 4 hours so far > OK, let's all get back to enjoying our roots rooting and helping one another. ;) ;) ;) GermanRussian List Keeper. I am looking for any info on a Peter Reidle, 1877, Beideck His wife, Marie Elizabeth Dahmer, 1878, Beideck. I have found a Schnegelberger link to Marie Dahmer thanks to some fellow genies. Peter's father, Adam Reidle, abt 1852, Beideck. I have nothing on the rest of Peter's family. No siblings or even a mother's maiden name. Peter immigrated to the US in 1912 through New York? His wife, Marie, and children came thru Galveston, TX, in May 1913. They lived in the Hillrose, Brush area of CO until they moved to MT in the early 1930's to farm sugar beets. This is the other side, lived in Russia. Johann Balthasar Riedel(stumpfinger) his wife Katherine Herter. Children were Katherine, Alexander, Walter, Amalia, Lisbeth. Amalia was still living in 1958. Alexander had at least 6 children. Katherine, the daughter, immigrated to Colorado and married John Justus. Their son, Walter Riedel, my grandfather, 1896, Neu-Beideck? or Beideck. He also immigrated to Colorado. He married Peter Reidle's oldest daughter, Mary. They moved to MT. (Katherine Herter's brother, Peter Herter also immigrated to CO and married Elizabeth.)

Hi, I am the project manager for the new Graber and variants DNA project and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in it. The DNA project would look at the DNA of various family lines and see if we can find any connections. The website for more information on DNA testing is http://www.familytreedna.com/ If you have any questions you can e-mail me and I will do my best to answer them. At this stage the Graber and variants DNA project does not have it's own website but the project is in the beginning stages and I am sure we will have a member willing to get one started. The test is only for males with the surname of Graber and that is how the Y chromosome can be traced. Patricia Greber
