Hello listers: I've been helping David McCarley on his Tapp family research. I think the salient points we are seeking are this: He has a 1902 letter from a descendant of Moses Tapp stating that the wife of Moses Tapp was "Mary Bach, a German girl." We can find no Mary (or Maria) Bach born in the right time frame to fit this family. The Mary wife of Moses was born ca 1755. Repeat: 1755. The Bach family lived in what is now Madison County. The Tapps lived in the NE section of (modern) Culpeper County. Adjacent land owners to the Tapps were Frederick FISHBACK. We are seeking any female FISHBACH from this area, born ca 1755 who is so-far unaccounted for. Moses Tapp moved to Spartanburg County, SC around 1807. His mother, Mary JETT Tapp (widow of Vincent Tapp) moved there no later than 1803. Again, we are looking for a FISHBACK possibility here. The 1902 letter cold well have "messed up" her family name. Moses Tapp and Mary -----, were married around 1784 in Culpeper County (no marriage bond survives). Thanks in advance, Craig
