    1. Re: [GERMANNA] GERMANNA HOLTS (WAS: DNA study question)
    2. Robert, You are right on target. I was born at Wilhite Station , Al. Charles Holt fought in the Revolutionary war and as, best as, I remember was an officer. I have not connected him on my grandmother's side of the family who was a Wilhite but on my grandfather's side who was Drake's. Grandpa Drake's grandmother was Elizabeth Holt who married Abraham Grimmett. I loaned all of my information to my brother Tom Drake this past summer. He is former Speaker of the House and a retired attorney here in Alabama. He is writting a book about his life. I thought it would be helpful if he needed names of family. We had cousins who visited this summer from Mississippi who are Wilhites and wanted to gather information about their family. They grew up in Mobile, Al where their father owned produce companies and sent produce all over Alabama and other places too. He was a nephew of my grandmother Laura Wilhite Drake. He was her brother's only child. He graduated from law school at the university of Alabama and had wanted to be a doctor but his father wouldn't agree on that. He ended up never practising law. My brother stayed in contact for years. We are in Wilhite country here. Our forefather's were from Germanna. Frances In a message dated 12/19/2008 11:04:10 A.M. Michael Holt and all of his known descendants had moved to Orange County, NC by about 1765 (or at least prior to the Revolutionary War). Michael Holt's son Nicholas married Eva Willheit (or Wilhite, if you prefer) who was a daughter of Michael Willheit (German immigrant) around 1740 while living in the Madison County, VA area. They are my direct ancestors. Other Willheit descendants also moved to Orange County, NC in this time frame. And still other Willheit's moved to what became known as Wilhite's Station near Cullman, AL.
