I think the reference you found refers to the German Reformed Church glebe at Germantown. One clue is that one of the neighbors is Jeremiah Darnall who acquired several of the plots belonging to the 1714 settlers. Jeremiah Darnall was a son-in-law of Hans Jacob Holtzclaw. I don't think it is the same as the Presbyterian Society mentioned in the Fauquier Co VA Minute Book. Comments, clarification, corrections-all appreciated. The above is typed exactly as it appears in the Minute Book including spelling, punctuation, or lack thereof. Question:? To which Presbyterian Society or Church does this entry refer? This minute book is also found on microfilm #31614 from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and is available for loan to a Family History Center. Thanks-- Suzanne Collins Matson My response - I believe Suzanne wrote a subsequent answer giving the date of this document in the year 1771. (I cannot find that message presently, but AOL is acting up--again. Wonder if all those snow storms have something to do with that?) I pulled down one of my books on Fauquier Co. deeds by John K. Gott and found this entry concerning a German glebe. The following is only an abstract. I wonder if the religion of the glebe was given in the full deed. I know this term is used a good deal for English churches [Church of England]. Gott used a lot of abbreviations, but I think readers can figure most of them out. [Golly--I ended this sentence with a preposition. What will my dear old HS English teacher think of that!!!\ Or is out a preposition?] [Fauquier Co., Deed Bk 4] p. 178-180 22 April 1771 B & S [Bargain & Sale] Bet.
