    1. Re: [GERMANNA] Thomas Powell and Mary Place c1640 to Lucy Stapp and John Wilh...
    2. I have?secondary source on?Powell information noted below: More About Thomas Sr POWELL and Mary PLACE: Marriage: Abt. 1666, Isle of Wight/Old Rappahannock Co, VA. ?Marriage Notes for Thomas Sr POWELL and Mary PLACE: Mary may have been Thomas' second wife and they were already married in 1667 when they sold some land. Court records in essex Co, 1667 & 1693, show they were already married and LDS records have the marriage date as 1756 but that is much too early considering Mary's age and birth dates of the children. Children of Thomas Sr POWELL and Mary PLACE are: +Honorias Sr POWELL, b. Abt. 1669, Essex Co, VA, d. 1752, Caroline Co, VA. ? source J VanGundy 4206 Jones Bridge Circle Norcross, GA 30092 United States 678-291-0807 Fax: 770-864-5165 bj@vangundy.net Descendants of Nathanial Powell Descendants of Nathanial Powell 1 Nathanial Powell b: Abt. 1610 in Wales, England d: 1677 in Isle of Wight Co, VA .. +Lucretia b: Abt. 1610 ..... 2 Thomas Sr. Powell b: Abt. 1635 in Sittingbourne Parrish, Essex Co, VA d: 20 Mar 1700/01 in Sittingbourne Parrish, Essex Co, VA Source: an Gundy Family File www.vangundy.net/familytree/paf/pafg71.htm ......... +Mary Place b: Abt. 1648 in Lancaster Co, VA m: Abt. 1666 in Isle of Wight/Old Rappahannock Co, VA d: 15 Dec 1710 Father: Francis Place Mother: Ann Williamson ............ 3 Honerias Powell b: Abt. 1669 in 1669, Essex Co, VA, d: 1752 in Caroline Co, VA Source: an Gundy Family File www.vangundy.net/familytree/paf/pafg71.htm ................ +Joyce Unknown b: Abt. 1675 in Virginia m: 1693 in Old Rappahannock Co, VA. ................... 4 Honorias Powell Jr? b: 1694 in Virginia d: 1767 in Virginia ....................... +Jeanette Kirtley b: Abt. 1700 in Prob Virginia m: 20 Apr .......................... 5 Thomas Payne Powell? b: Abt. 1730 in Orange Culpepper Virginia d: Feb 1809 in Estill Co, KY. .............................. +Jane Ann Bush b: 1740 Father: Phillip or Thomas Bush .......................... 5 Simon Powell b: Abt. 1720 in Orange, Virginia d: 1771 in Virginia .............................. +Martha b: 1729 in Virginia .......................... 5 Abraham??? My line is confirmed to Oner R Powell a surveyor born about 1772 in Virginia.? He lived in Covington Kentucky near Cincinatti in the early 1800s.? The Van Grundy file indicates that his father was Thomas Payne Powell who went with Washington in the French and Indian war and died in Estell Kentucky.? Oner produced a Farmers Alamanac for Cincinatti in the early 1800s. These early Powells were fairly wealthy and lived along side of the Germanna families.? I would love to know more about them.? As far as I know my Wilhite, Broyles, and?Fleshman lines did not connect with the Powells.? Would appreciate any help Thanks, Susan -----Original Message----- From: TEbel2888@aol.com To: germanna_colonies@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 6 Dec 2008 8:03 am Subject: Re: [GERMANNA] Thomas Powell and Mary Place c1640 to Lucy Stapp and John Wilh... In a message dated 12/6/2008 12:04:43 A.M. Central Standard Time, winnie.miller@att.net writes: I am trying to find a marriage date of the wedding of Thomas Powell and Mary Place. His birth abt. 1640. His marriage before 1657. Which makes him a very young man. His death abt. 1701 in Esssex County, VA. No will I can find. I am not sure of Mary Place's birth and have her death Dec. 1710 in Richmond County, VA Thomas's father could be William Powell and could be born in Isle of Wright. Wright ? Thomas Powell and Mary Place to Ann Ester Powell and Edward Coffey to Martha Patsy Coffey and Joshua Stapp Senior to Joshua Stapp Jr. and Hannah Durham to my Lucy Stapp married to John Wilhite. Lucy Stapp married John Wilhite c 1769 in Orange County, VA. Lucy and John died in Owen County, KY. John Wilhite b 1745 Culpeper, died 17 Feb. 1837 in Owen County, KY. Lucy b 1747 in Orange County, VA, buried 28 March 1828 in Owen County, KY. Something seems off. Check the dates. I have Joshua COFFEY m Hannah DURHAM 1758 Orange Co., Virginia, but Lucy was born 1747. It took the minister a while to get there LOL --or Joshua had a previous marriage---or I have the dates wrong. Joshua was not born in Orange Co., Virginia in 1724 because the county didn't split from Spotsylvania Co. (est. 1721 from Essex) until 1734. Sarah Durham STAPP had to be the youngest (or close to it) if she was born in 1760 when Hannah was 45. Then there is a 13 year gap between Lucy and Sarah.
