This is to wish everyone a Blessed Safe Holiday Season and a Blessed Safe Faith filled New Year. I would love to learn more about early Xmas. So hope some respond before I leave to go home for week. Things I recall being told were: Tree goes up Xmas eve. popcorn and berries were trim. Candles lite it and prayed not a fire happened. Xmas was not celebrated in USA or any where until after 1830's or so from the scant things I have read, when commercialism first started to creep in. Early glass bulbs on tree were made in Germany and were reflective so that you used less candles. NOW my MOM had these glorious flower lites that each petal lite up. I wish they would bring those back. I love bubble lites that remind one of candles. I liked the tinsel on the tree also. I have a few of the reflective bulbs that MOM shared with me for our first tree.
