I endorse SusiCP's thoughts. I will always recommend starting with the basic test that a company offers. For two reasons. First, if the company is a reputable Genealogy DNA Lab, the sample is available for further testing in the future. Second, while there is a cost savings of having the all marker test right up front my experience with my Surname DNA Project is how many tests results in no matches.
