    1. Re: [GERMANNA] DNA study question
    2. Suzanne, The thing that disturb's me about all of this is that people are taking what these labs says as absolutely true. Labs have made mistakes as, long as, I can remember and serious ones. I am a nurse and have seen this for years. I have seen many mistakes on the DNA's to prove who the parent's are. When a person knew they were not the father they would repeat the test and it would come back the second time that they were not the father. Those test were done by trained lab people. The ones doing our DNA are college students.. Recently, I heard that there was numerous mistakes on the DNA's done for genealogy. I think it is strange that they have not gone back any further than my paper work in all I have had done. I have done three surnames and my mtdna and dna prints and all the other things they wanted to do on the Y dna's. I hope no one throw's tomatoes at me because I have my opinion about this. I have found some get hostile about disagreeing with them. My advise is to re run any test that you have questions about and use a different lab. In a message dated 12/18/2008 6:13:36 A.M. Y-DNA studies were done to see if various lines were related. One came back as completely unrelated. The parents of the person tested are living. He had grown up in his family thinking of course that he was a biological child of both parents. Needless to say, this person is devastated and the family is in real turmoil. I am not saying don't do DNA studies but I am asking how you would deal with this. As we work on our various Germanna lines, we may encounter the above situation at some point.
