Barb: I'm not so sure about your placement of this Stephen Jett. William Tapp Sr. had several children, two of whom were Vincent Tapp who married Mary Jett, daughter of John Jett (d. 1771), and daughter Sarah Tapp who m. John Jett. The John Jett who died in 1771 also had a son Stephen Jett. So these three Jett's are contemporaries. That is, Stephen Jett is NOT a son of John Jett and Sarah Tapp Jett. In other words, siblings Vincent and Sarah Tapp married siblings John and Mary Jett. I am not sure, but the John Jett who died in Culpeper in 1808 may be the John Jett who married Sarah Tapp. His will also names a son Stephen Jett, to whom 1 shilling, suggesting he may be the Stephen Jett who married a daughter of Joseph Bach, Sr. and moved to North Carolina (not Kentucky). This will also names sons William, John, Joseph and Nimrod Jett (Vincent and Mary Jett Tapp also had a son Nimrod), and daughters Ann Churchman, Elizabeth Canady, Sarah Hopper (wife of John Hopper, m. 1785), and Abigail Arnold. There is a Tapp family genealogy book at the Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library in Lancaster, VA that I intend to look up today. Perhaps it will throw more light on the Tapps of Culpeper.
