    1. Re: [GERMANNA] Mary Fishback, m. Moses Tapp?
    2. There was a Fishback family and a Back family, so it's very possible that Moses's wife was a daughter of the Back family and not the Fishback family. There is a Mary Back that was born in 1777, the daughter of Henry Back and Elizabeth Huffman, the daughter of John Hoffman/Huffman (1714 Immigrant) and his second wife Maria Sabina Folg. She's the right age to be the wife of your Moses Tapp, but nothing further is known about her according to BC Holtzclaw in the Bach/Back section of Ancestry and Descendants. Also of interest is that Joseph Back, the brother of the above Henry, has a tie to the Jett family, which BC notes on pg. 42: Joseph Back, son of Harman Back ".......On Aug. 20, 1786 the State of Virginia granted to Joseph Back and Stephen Jett, assignees of Joseph Back, 791 acres in Fayette Co., Ky., due to Joseph Back by a Treasury Warrant dated Aug. 16, 182, and surveyed Mar. 19, 1785. This land-grant indicates that there were two Joseph Backs, Joseph Sr. (to whom the warrant was issued) and Joseph, Jr. (to whom it was assigned along with Stephen Jett)." I'm not sure who Stephen Jett is, but the parents of Moses Tapp are Vincent Tapp and Mary Jett, she being the daughter of John Jett. Is Stephen Jett a son of John and Mary's brother??? Okay, I just figured out who Stephen Jett is, it does pay to read!!! Stephen Jett is the son of Sarah Tapp and her husband, John Jett. Sarah Tapp is the daughter of William and Christian _______ Tapp and the brother of Vincent Tapp, your Moses's father. I think it significant of the ties to the Tapps to the Jetts to the Backs and I would bet that your Mary Back is just that, a Back descendant and not a Fishback descendant! If I remember correctly Frederick Fishback was in the Little Fork.
