The Yager Family, in Rockingham County, Virginia! Barbara Elizabeth Yager Barbara Elizabeth Yager, was born on the, 25th of May, in 1881, in the town of Elkton, in Rockingham County, Virginia. Her parents were, William L. Yager, and Sarah 'Columbia' Price Yager. Her father was born, about 1852, also in the town of Elkton, and her mother was born, about 1856, in Fredericksville, in Albermarle County, Virginia. Both of her parents, are buried in the Elk Run Cemetery, in Rockingham County, Virginia. Her father having die in 1896, and her mother in 1911. Lizzie, as Barbara Elizabeth, prefer to called, by family, as well as friends. Was the oldish, of three Yager girls. But unlike her two younger sisters! She was not married in, Rockingham County, as they were. There are no marriage records, for her there. I relive, that her marriage toke place, in the home town of, her further husband. If this is so, it may be the reason, why there are no records, of there marriage. His home town was, Marksville, in Page County, Virginia. And his name was, David Isaac 'Marcellus' Grove! He was born on, the 1st of August in 1879. in Marksville. His mother was, Martha Gertrude Strickler, born about 1856, in that town. His father was, David Thomas Grove, also of Marksville. Once more, there are no records, showing either, a marriage or divorce, for them. I do have, cops of old photos, of each of them, as well as, photos of, William, and Sarah, Yager. Another reason, for the marriage taking place in Marksville. Is the fact, that his mother, die in 1901, of an long unknown illness. And there marriage, would have taking place, before her death!. I was able, to fine one family records, of Barbara 'Lizzie' and David marriage, in an old Strickler journal. There was only six words, " TODAY, DAVID GROVE, MARRY BARBARA YAGER", nothing more. I will go into more details, on both Marksville, and the Strickler family, in a later e-mail. After there marriage, Lizzie and David, left the Shenandoah Valley, not to return to it. But they did not go far, from the Valley, where they were born in! They move to the town of, Clifton Forge, just outside of, the Valley. There they began, there new lives, and there new family, in the early 1900's. My father, was there first child, as well as, there first son, his name was, William Yager Grove, and he was born on, August 3rd, 1903. I believe this would have made him, his grandmother's, first grandson, if she had live. He die on September 27th, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pa.. His sister, Rena Gertrude Grove, was the next oldish, being born on, October 19th, 1904, in Covington Va.. She die in 1974, at the age of 70, in Harrisonburg, Va.. The next sister was, Nell Mae Grove, born on, October 15th, 1906, in Covington, Va.. In 1926, she married Perry H. Bauhger Sr., they had one daughter, and two son, along with several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She die on, June 29th, 1994, at the age of 87, also in Harrisonburg, Va.. The last sister was, Virginia Grove, born on May 6th, 1909, in Covington, Va.. In 1945, she married James M. Janney Jr., they had one special daughter, Jeanie. She die in 1986, in the Shenandoah County, Memorial Hospital, in Virginia, she was 77, at the time. The last child, was the youngish son, his name was, Clarence Raymond Grove, who was born in 1911, in Covington, Va.. Date and place of death, is unknown at this time. Barbara Lizzie, and David Marcellus Grove, live in Clifton Forge, until there death. David Marcellus Grove, die on December 21st, 1941, at the age of 63.
