    1. [GERMANNA] Help on conflicting info - Melchoir Brumbach
    2. HOPE A. CARNICLE
    3. Hello Germanna Cousins, I am a bit confused on the entry in the Germanna Families entry for Melchoir Brumbach. I have based my information on Melchoir's birth, marriage etc on the research of B. C. Holtzsclaw found in "Ancestry and Descendants of the Nassau-Siegen Immigrants to Virginia, 1714-1750." I agree that within Mr. Holtzsclaw's presentation of exactly who Melchoir descends from and the specific information on his date of birth and some discussion on the rational of whom he married I believe that he was fairly specific in his findings that Melchoir arrived in the Colonies as a batchelor - aged about 29 (b: cir 1685 in Musen) and was married to Mary Elizabeth Fischbach, the eldest daughter of Philipp and Elizabeth (Heimbach) Fischbach shortly after arrival at Germanna. (circa 1714/1715) Entries in the Germanna Families database on Rootsweb shows some contrary information...ie, Melchoir's date of birth specifically stated as 2 September 1695 and further reports that he and Mary Elizabeth Fischbach were married in 1513 in Bavaria prior to leaving on their long journey to Virginia. I would be most excited to find that new information has been found on this family, but would love to have some information on the source for this new information before changing my family history database. Melchoir and Elizabeth Fischbach are my only connections to the Germanna community, and seeing that Melchoir's line daughtered out. My line continues from Melchoir and Elizabeth's daughter Mary Catherine and her marriage to Christopher Wendel/Windel/Windle/Windell Looking for some saged advise from this learned list on reconciling this conflicting information. Best Regards Hope Carnicle
