    3. Jennie, Help! I'm having trouble following your directions in searching for books. I went to the books.google.com, then to "advanced book search." I didn't see anywhere to click on "100 searches." Did you mean "100 results"? I also didn't see a place to enter "Name." I tried entering a name I've been researching, Knowlton, in the box that says, "with all of the words," and I got 100 books with no mention of the name IN the book, but by authors named Knowlton. It sounds like you're having GREAT results, but I'm failing miserably! Please tell me what I'm doing wrong:-(. Mark "100 Searches". Enter a "Name" and any other clue, like an author name. Mark "Full book".

    1. [GERMANNA] Google book site

    3. Jennie, This is a follow-up on my earlier message, asking for help on the Google book site. I've found that if I put a full name, IN PARENTHESES, in the box that says "with all the words," then I can actually come up with some good hits. For example, I put "Jacob Coons" in the search, and came up with some interesting books. The downside is that I found some very enticing "clips," but not access to the books. In my quest to find out why, at the "Google Book Search Help Center" I found the answer to the copyright question: "Why can't I read the entire book? "Many of the books in Google Book Search come from authors and publishers who participate in our Partner Program. For these books, our partners decide how much of the book is browsable -- anywhere from a few sample pages to the whole book. "For books that enter Book Search through the Library Project, what you see depends on the book's copyright status. We respect copyright law and the tremendous creative effort authors put into their work. If the book is in the public domain and therefore out of copyright, you can page through the entire book and even download it and read it offline. But if the book is under copyright, and the publisher or author is not part of the Partner Program, we only show basic information about the book, similar to a card catalog, and, in some cases, a few snippets -- sentences of your search terms in context. The aim of Google Book Search is to help you discover books and learn where to buy or borrow them, not read them online from start to finish. It's like going to a bookstore and browsing - with a Google twist." So, the bottom line seems to be: If the book is available on the site, then there's no copyright. So ENJOY!
