Trolling through publications is not bad in some cases. Not all Indexes are complete so just a little journey through the book, document or what ever is worth it sometimes. I had a county history from Pa that I bought several years ago and there seemed to be nothing in it for me (from the indexes). But I did page through and find a picture of a bunch of civil war soldiers who were in fact part of a GAR Post. Not in the indexes. And there on the end is my GGGF in his Civil War uniform.
