Someone who know more about DNA could help you with this. My knowledge is limited. I did have mtDNA on myself but that is our mother's mother and so on, for several generations. I cannot tell that helped me at all. I think you would get the best result's on the Ydna on the Wilhite men in your family. One thing I have found interesting is the Ydna doesn't go any further back than my paper trail on my different surnames. I have Wilhite cousin's but I don't think they have done DNA. I didn't do all of my DNA with FTDNA. I did my DNA tracks with another company and that helped me to know where we lived and what our nationalities are. I am a great mixture and lots of German. You might also want to look at the familytree DNA site. www.familytreedna.com There is a lot of information on line as well as various surname projects. There are special prices there also for ordering through a project. There are other DNA sites to look at also that have special deals. John
