Cousins, I followed the link to the 1/2 DNA Tests. Are you sure that the testing company is Family Tree DNA (FTDNA)? FTDNA does not offer a 33 Marker Y Chromosome Test Kit nor a 46 Marker Y Chromosome Test Kit. I am the Group Administrator for the Morris Surname DNA Project through FTDNA. As a member of the group FTDNA offers a 12 Marker Y-Chromosome Test Kit for $99 and a 37 Marker Y Chromosome Test Kit for $189. So the 1/2 Test Kits seem to be a bargin. But I could not find out who the testing company is. I searched Ancestry and I Googled without results. In answer to the question about the ability to have additional tests performed on the original Test Kit, yes if you are with FTDNA. That is why I recommend to people to have their relatives tested while they are still alive. New and improved testing is being invented all of the time. Corlee Morris San Diego, California A Yeager

My husband tested through Relative Genetics and they were bought by ancestry. I don't think familytreedna is connected with this company at all. Different companies test different markers which is a pain when you are trying to compare results BUT the price is good. Everyone else in the family tested with family tree. Sometimes to clarify a relationship you need to go to 67 markers so it would be good to make sure that whoever you test with -- offers everything that you would want - now or in the future.  All of this really does not pertain to Germanna per se -- except that it is a subject that all of us as family recorders need to be aware of -- to help us in research of our Germanna connections.
