    1. [GERMANNA] Some existing news for those of us with *international* ancestors.
    2. I received this from a commercial genealogical database newsletter and found it of interest. Unfortunately, it will NOT show the names of any early Germans, it seems. . I doubt that any Germanna colonists' names appear. But you might get lucky I was searching for a man named Wilhelm Braun, born December 1841 in Baden, but those names which appeared for those two names and born in Baden, indicated late baptisms. My Ulster Irish ancestor with a common surname showed up on the Kentucky frontier in 1820, the year he got married. Therefore, the Irish records will not pertain to him!!! I have modified the announcement somewhat, as I did not copy the entire announcement. You might take a look. Genealogists are always full of curiosity!! E.W.Wallace 30 January 2009 Since the last update on January 5, 2009, _FamilySearch_ (http://www.familysearch.org/) added over 40 million new records to its _Record Search pilot_ (http://pilot.familysearch.org/) . Individuals with international roots from Argentina, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, and the Philippines will find some nice surprises in the newly added collections. Birth, marriage, and death records were added for the Netherlands and Ireland. Irish researchers in particular have been anxiously awaiting the 23 million records from the Irish Civil Registration indexes. These records date from 1845-1958 and are also known as the Statutory Registration Records. Statutory registration for Protestants began in 1845 and for Catholics in 1864. Many thanks to the thousands of online _FamilySearch Indexing_ (http://www.familysearchindexing.com/) volunteers who helped make these wonderful records available. The new records can be searched for free at _FamilySearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org/) (Click Search Records, then Record Search pilot). End of message. **************Who's never won?
