    1. Re: [GERMANNA] Old Homesteads--Tyl van Fispe, Niederdorf, Germany
    2. On the second Germany Tour with Germanna in 2004, several of us accompanied Carolyn Lundgren, a Cuntze descendant, to Niederndorf. While we were driving in the van with Herr Moulin and Herr Hoof, our guides, I asked Herr Hoof about the Fishbacks in Niederndorf, he gave me a rather puzzled look. So, I changed the name to van Fispe and he knew who I was talking about! The oldest ancestor to date for the Fishback family is Tyl van Fispe and he owned an iron works in Niederndorf in 1444. BC Holtzclaw states that this iron works was owned by Tyl van Fispe's father, and it is listed in "the list of incomes and rents of the Counts of Nassau 1417-19"!!!! We were taken to the area where the old iron works stood at one time and where his house still stands. We were blown away!!! Has anyone an earlier time for visiting an ancestor's home? 1. Hans Gahr (Garr/Gaar) lived at Kolnpach in the time frame 1545 to 1577. The first date was his approximate date of birth and the latter date is the date of death. At some point in this time spread, he moved away from Kolnpach farm (which was really Kolmbach). 2. Kilian Planckenbuehler lived on the Planckenbichl farm outside Gresten, Austria, in 1600. Both of these farms had their names at the date above and still do today. It is impossible for me to say that the buildings are the original buildings. Mostly likely they are highl6y modified .It is known that the house on Planckenbichl farm had a thatched roof in 1930.
