I know there are several of us on this list who have been stymied at the origins of John Berry and his wife Jemima. I am working on a THEORY that she may have been a ROBINSON from Lancaster County. The reason why this door opens (perhaps falsely) is an article on the Berry family I recently ran across in a back issue of "The Bulletin of the Northumberland County Historical Society" that leaves John Robinson of the right time frame dangling in Northumberland County. A recent client project of mine was on the Robinson family of Lancaster and Northumberland County. Among them was one Aaron Robinson who had children (I think twins) Elisha and Elijah. There was a Jemima Robinson who was a cousin of his--AND I DO NOT KNOW WHO SHE MARRIED. To find ALL these names in the family of John and Jemima Berry is too much of a coincidence to ignore. As I said, this is just a theory at this point. And like all theories, one must set out to disprove it. I'd be interested in any input or thoughts on this. Craig Kilby
Do you happen to know the country of origin of this Robinson family? Elisha and Elijah are English names aren't they? We certainly can't seem to hook Jemima up elsewhere!!! -----Original Message----- From: germanna_colonies-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:germanna_colonies-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Craig Kilby Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 5:20 PM To: germanna_colonies@rootsweb.com Subject: [GERMANNA] Family name of Jemima, wife of John Berry I know there are several of us on this list who have been stymied at the origins of John Berry and his wife Jemima. Following this Robinson talk as my Mary Ann Robinson, daughter of Samuel Robinson was married Clarke Co. Ohio to Elisha Adamson. No Jemima's in this family.
