    3. Could Henry President Wilhite/Willhite read and/or write? According to the 1870 Census Indiana, Montgomery County, Coal Creek Township, Crawfordsville Post Office, Page 11, line 26. Henry President Wilhite/Willhite: Column 16, Could not read Column 17, Could not write Same for Susan Ann (Batteral) Wilhite/Willhite Is this information 100% reliable? Probably not. However, if he did not sign his marriage document, and the 1870 Census record suggests that he could not read and that he could not write, I would lean toward these being facts, unless/until something more conclusive supports an alternate answer. By the way - In the 1870 Census Henery President's last name was spelled Willhite. In the 1880 Census Henery President's last name was spelled Wilhite. Henry and family can be found on the following 1880 Census record: Indiana, Montgomery County, Coal Creek Township, Page 12, Supervisor's Dist. No. 4, Enumeration Dist. No. 90, line 25. Sincerely, Rick Willhite Living Willhite, Ross Moore Willhite, Ira Clyde Willhite, James Mathew Willhite, President Hall/Henry Wilhite, Achiles Wilhite/Wilhoit, John Wilhoite, Tobias Wilheit or Matthias Wilheit, Johann Michael Willheit...
