    1. [GERMANNA] William L. HUFFMAN, age 72 in 1902, Civil War Pension/disability app.

    3. I was looking for HUFFMANs who may be associated with my line and ran across a William Huffman CW-related app on the Library of Virginia online records. Per this William's app, he is age 72 (so would have been born in 1830) and was born in Rappahannock Co. He lists his location at the time of the app as 'near Woodville,' also in Rappahannock County. He states his occupation is a Miller and that he is almost totally disabled dur to Ruptured ?. My ancestor, John HUFFMAN (m. Julianna BLANKENBAKER), whose daughter, Ellen, married Arnold NETHERS, had a mill a bit SW of Woodville that was originally known as Huffman's Mill and later became known as the Mill at Nethers (and the P.O. was Nethers, VA, and is still there today, in the shadow of Old Rag Mountain). Now, I list 3 William Huffmans in my data, none of which were born about 1830, so I don't *think* there is a direct connection to Ellen. I do list a John W. Huffman as a possible brother of Ellen and in the 1850 census for the family, he is shown as a Miller but just do not think John W. would become William L: 1850 Federal Census - Virginia Madison County, Roll M432_958, Page 98; Enumerated 10 Dec 1850 by G. W. Pendleton; Huffman, John, 50, M, Miller, Val. R. E. = 1200, b. VA; Julia A., 50, F, b. VA; John W., 21, M, Miller, b. VA; Frances, 18, F, b. VA; Harriet, 16, F, b. VA; Henry, 14, M, b. VA; Robert, 12, b. VA. (Note my 2g-grandmother, Ellen Huffman, is already out of the home, having married Arnold Nethers in 1847) Now, I have to yet read it, but an Ellen HUFFMAN of Rappahannock Co. also completed an app based on her husband's service; her husband was Robert HUFFMAN and I am wondering if it is the Robert in the 1850 census above who may also be my Ellen's brother? Does anyone here have additional info on this William?
