    2. Cathi, my sister, Barb, and I usually go in January but would certainly consider changing the time. My vote for hotels is the Plaza at Temple Square -- out the back door into the front door of the library. Rooms are nice with fridge and microwaves -- nothing elegant but usually have a genealogy special -- stay 5 nights get one free. And cost is usually about $89 a night without tax. I would love to learn how to do some German research. The library always has free classes also -- I learned how to do research in Denmark records and that is where I also learned about DNA. I think the Mormom Tabernacle Choir practices on Wed or Thurs and it is right across the street which is a fun activity. I don't when the Utah Jass plays but the games are at the Salt Palace -- right across the street also. Just some ideas. For those of you with grandchildren -- my family just went on a day trip to Park City and road the worlds fastest zip line and an alpine slide -- can also do a bobsled ride -- all at the Olympic Park. I stayed at the library <smile> And there is an outlet mall in Park City also which is about 25 miles from Salt Lake City. Take care. One idea that I have but have not had time to pursue yet is to organize a Germanna Foundation research trip to Salt Lake City. This could be formatted in several ways and could be open to any of our friends interested in genealogy not just to members. Given other Foundation activities and weather concerns, mid September - mid November would probably be the best time to schedule this. I actually went to SLC the weekend before Thanksgiving 2009 and practically had the Family History Library to myself. If you are interested in a potential Germanna trip to Salt Lake City please provide some feed back. Consider the following: Where would you like to stay? As close to the Family History Library as possible, within a walk of a mile or less (SLC has very long city blocks) or further away if there is a street car or scheduled shuttle to the library available? What activities would you like to see? Germanna specific seminars? How many organized meals? Tours of local sites? Transportation to the site would be on your own. Most of the downtown hotels have shuttles from the airport. Anything else ... Thanks, Cathi If you refer to a Germanna descendant, include a link to your on-line data. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
