Marilyn, Whether I have the story on John Michael Smith, Jr. correct or not is most uncertain. Since I think he was at Hebron from about 1782 to 1785, I would guess he was in PA just before this. The location is unknown. Muhlenberg refers to someone by the name of Smith as a freebooter. JMS has disposed of his land before this time and it would appear that he was relatively independent financially. John
