It appears that John Michael Smith, Jr. did live for a few years, ca 1778, in Pennsylvania. He was described in unfavorable terms by Rev. Muhlenberg for his attempts at being a pastor in Pennsylvania. Incidentally, he was removed by the elders at Hebron because he was unsatisfactory. Remember that he had little formal education.
