A good many descendants of these families went to EARLY Kentucky.  The Kempers Some of my ancestors) went to Garrard Co., KY--and their cousins the Holtzclaws seemed to have been in Mercer Co., KY but only a river--Dicks River--separated them. About ten years ago when my spouse and I were exploring various counties in Kentucky, we hoped to catch the ferry to hasten our return to Richmond in Madison Co., KY.  Too late--the ferry quit running not long after 5:00.
