Help! The German American Heritage Museum and the U.S. Capitol Historical Society have put on an exhibition of German-Americans in Congress - their display is in the U.S. Senate this week, and we hope to have it come to the Germanna Foundation later this year. We have been successful to get a nice write-up on Congressman Russ Carnahan, who is the immediate past Chairman of the Congressional Study Group on Germany and is a Germanna Carpenter descendant. The next project we are working on with the GAHM and the Historical Society is to identify members of Congress from the 19th and 20th Centuries who have Germanna roots. In addition to U.S. Senator Jeane Carnahan (Russ's mother - they both came to the Germanna Conference and Reunion this past July), we have a couple more: House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Robert Roberts Hitt at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=marcwheat&id=I19309 and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Clarence Cannon at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=marcwheat&id=I28217 Can you help on this fun scholarship challenge? Maybe see your discoveries on display in the House and Senate and the Bundestag?
