Carolyn, What is your Speilmann connection? There is a Speilmann/Spilman family in the First Colony, and relatives of the Speilmanns were in the Little Fork Colony, along with Henry Huffman, the 1734 immigrant, his wife was Anna Margaret Huettenhen and her mother was a Speilmann. The Speilmanns are from the villages of Seelbach, Oberfischbach and Oberschelden in Nassau-Siegen. Barb Price Holzklau/Otterbach/Heimbach/Fischbach CLORE, CORN, CRISLER, GAAR, KAIFER, SPEILMANN? ? Here is my line. Would love to know about them. ??AND Eva Katherina Maria SEIDELMANN Andreas GARR ?AND Theobald Fawatt CRISLERRosina GARR Leonard CRISLER AND Margaret CLORE parents are John Michael CLORE and Dorothea KAIFER ?AND Elizabeth CORN Michael CRISLER Leonard CRISLER ?AND Caroline REESER ? Georgiana CRISLER....my great grandparents AND Henry BERTRAN
Barbara and all, Like with some other families (i.e. Ballenger, Thomas) we have to be careful not to confuse these surnames like Spillman from the English people and the Germanna people. Spillman (various spellings) are a good example Last week I was at the Library of Virginia looking at loose (unrecorded) wills. One was for Hannah (Ball) Fox, widow of David-2 Fox dated 31 OCT 1708. Long before any Germanna people arrived on these shores. She names her daughter Hannah Spelman (widow of Clement Spelman, first husband was Rodham Kenner...it gets confusing) I often wonder who knew whom in this period of time. It has been a while since I posted this information; but maybe someone has more to contribute to our family mystery. Back in the 1980s, Awilda KACKLEY presented to me some old family records that had been handed down to her concerning her family lineage. She left them with me for several months before I returned them to her. (Before computer family research) Since then, they have gone missing, so I have no record of proof as it concerned them; however, I have since done my own research. My step-daughter, only grand child of above Awilda KACKLEY, has a direct line to Jacob KACKLEY, born about 1702 in Steinhelm, Wurenberg, Germany. Jacob KACKELY died in 1788, Shenandoah County, Virginia. As far as Jacob goes, I have all my ducks in a row as to documents and so forth. Now the hard part, no proof. He was married to Alice SPIELMANN (1717-1805) said to be a daughter of Johannes "John" SPIELMANN and his wife Mary Catharine FISHBACH. I believe the last time I posted on this was sometime in 2009; perhaps someone else has found some references to Alice SPIELMANN.
