I would be interested in seeing the before/after pictures. Thanks. We had a wonderful day Monday probing for parts of the headstones etc. I actually found a footstone and some other pieces! My son and his girlfriend took off work and came as well, wonderful to have young people interested and involved, I am blessed. As close to archeology as I will see - the restoration company did miracles cleaning and piecing and resetting the stones. Von is to be given so much credit for making this all happen - he took classes to be certified by the State of Indiana to do the work and oversee the operation, as well as everything else he's done. There are pictures of the before and after available, I would be happy to email to anyone interested - thank you again Mark for the kind words. > Avis Walker (nee Thornton/Thornton/Thornton-Blankenbaker/Joel Blankenbaker-Susanna House) > awalker719@yahoo.com > > > --- On Wed, 10/12/11, Marc Wheat <Germanna1714@yahoo.com> wrote: > > > From: Marc Wheat <Germanna1714@yahoo.com> > Subject: Re: [GERMANNA] Joel Blankenbaker & wife,Susanna House > To: germanna_colonies@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 1:34 PM > > > Avis - keep up the good work. I am just surprised by the lack of interest in what are Blankenbakers from the Germanna folks! I saw tons of emails back and forth on how to get onto HeritageQuest (guess I'm spoiled, our library offers at home access) but when there is something 'live' happening for our shared ancestors - nothing. Not even a 'send us a report' or 'how great!' or 'give our best to Von Blankenbaker for taking the time/effort' I am sort of disappointed in the lack of interest - these are direct descendants of Germanna - Joel was born in Virginia. At the risk of sending some incorrect info (this is all I have on file here at my office, old, not amended as I learn more, please see below, perhaps one or more of the people who frequent the Germanna site are a part of this branch: > I started with Joel's parents - I do have more going back farther - > 4. The Harris Cemetary is noted on the County Map. You can find it because there is a tree growing about 1/2 block into the corn field going North on the highway it is to your right. The markers are surrounding the tree, are not upright, but are legible and can be moved to view. > > > Notes for SUSAN HOUSE: > Burried in little family cemetary in Newton Co.
