Thanks Michael for your astute insight. Let's get on with finding and honoring the Germanana folks who came. For example: I still see almost nothing about the two brother-in-laws, Hoffman and Weber/Weaver who married Volck ladies. Their properties adjoined. Hoffman's was much larger than Weaver's. Among their children there was little intermarriage, but by the grandchildren and especially great-grandchildren, Colony I Hoffman and Colony II Weber, had blended nicely in that part of Madison County. It is hard not to scratch a known Germanna descendant and not find Weber and/or Hoffman blood flowing. Just like north and south blood once one gets a bit west. Cary
