Frances Newbold Noyes (1890-1943) was the author of The Bellamy Trial (winner of the Pulitzer Prize, 1927). A silent film of the same name was made in 1929 based on her murder mystery. Does anyone know what became of her children? Her ancestry is posted at: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=marcwheat&id=I27529 The Library of Congress film preservation facility in Culpeper has a wonderful theater, and classic films are regularly shown. If we can locate a copy of the Bellamy Trial, perhaps the Library of Congress could show it Thursday night during the weekend of the Germanna Reunion in 2009. I am a descendant of Johann Paulus Vogt who with his family arrived in Philadelphia on the "Charming Betty" out of London, on October 11, 1733. Johann Vogt and his wife Maria Catherina had daughters Catherina Vogt 18 and daughter Maria Vogt 16, sons Andreas Vogt 12, and Kaspar Vogt, 8 (my direct line). My records reveal that when John Paul Vogt died in 1761 at his home near Harrisonburg in the Shenandoah Valley, his will, dated 9 October 1759, mentioned only one daughter, the one who married Christian Clements (Catherina). Out records say that it is assumed that the other daughter died without issue prior to October 1759, the date of John's will. It was stipulated that if any estate remained after all debts were paid, it was to be equally divided between his three children, Catherine Clemmens (sic), Andreas, and Casper Faught. My 4-Great Grandfather, John Gaspar Faught, son of the immigrant Johann Paulus Vogt, would have been 37 years old when his father died in 1761. If anyone has records other than the above, evidence that Maria may have married prior to the death of her father, I would appreciate hearing from you. Patricia L. Has anyone researched the family of Mary Catherine Vaught, who married Hans Wendel Thoma/Thomas in Neuenbürg? Anita Schmidt
I recently had the privilege of visiting the Visitor Center at the Germanna Community College. While there, I noticed a picture in a display case in the research room. It was actually the only picture in the case. The picture was a composite of a grey-bearded man and a woman above a group photo of 4 dark-bearded men surrounding a white-haired lady, posed in what appears to be a parlor. I am told the picture may have been previously housed in Thomas Faircloth's office. As it happens, I am a direct descendent of people in this photo and would like to find out who donated it to the foundation. I have a copy of the same photo in my possession that I received from my father's estate. The woman in the lower photo has been the subject of many family debates and I know of no one left who can definitively identify her. The man in the top photo is William Lambert Yager, son of Simeon, son of Godfrey. The woman is his wife Cynthia Calista Hayes Yager. In the lower photo the men are in clockwise order starting at 10 o'clock Samuel Addison Yager, Simeon Sylvester Yager, John William Yager, and Dr. Enoch James Yeager. The woman is either their sister Rosetta Elizabeth Yager Wylie or their mother Cynthia Calista Hayes Yager. I would appreciate any information anyone could give regarding the donator of this picture. I would like to correspond with this cousin. Thank you in advance.

Is there a Germanna website that has information on which researchers are tracking which families? I noted that in the attached email on the Zimmerman / Albrecht question that there were some Yowells in Germanna since the Yowell name is included in the following reference from the Z / A question; [ii] Johni Cerny and Gary J. Zimmerman, Before Germanna #9: The Ancestry of the Zimmerman, Yowell, Mercklin, Wegman and Leatherer Families, (Bountiful, UT: American Genealogical Lending Library, 1990), 21. I'm trying to track members of the Yowell family. Specifically I'm looking for a Cornelius Yowell who was born about 1785 in VA. Cornelius was married to a Clara Ann (?) who was also from VA. Their marriage could have been either in VA, or OH. They had 2 sons born in Ohio in the 1808-1810 time frame, another in Indiana about 1816, and several more both male and female in KY. According to the KY census data they lived there from 1820 through 1850, and ended up in Illinois in 1860 Dick RockCatt@aol.com wrote: > Thank you so much, Cathi!
