I guess I am on the right track because Tobias is in my line. Conrad was one of my Gr.gr. gr. grandfather's who went to Tn and his two sons came to Alabama and they were Ezekiel and John Jarman. I sure do miss all of my information. LOL I must visit my brother soon. He lives in Cullman, Al and that is a German town. I have two other Gr. gr grandmother's who were German. We have a Wilhite cemetery here in Morgan cty. Al at Wilhite Station. My gr gr grandparent's came here from Tn. My gr gr grandfather was John Jarman Wilhite. Wilhite Station was name for him. We are Wilhites from Germanna. My grandmother on my father's side of my family was Laura Wilhite Drake. We had some Wilhite cousins who were here from Mississippi this past summer and I loaned all of my Wilhite books and information to my brother since, they were visiting him. I must go get my books. I miss looking up things. I believe that John's father was Conrad. I think we are in the line of John and Lucy Stapp but I am not certain. Frances In a message dated 12/6/2008 5:56:34 P.M. Joanne, I don't know a thing about the Mac computer's I have a good computer that has lots of memory and it work's fine. I don't know if I can get the Germanna site or not. I haven't tried. I use AOL most of the time. Personally, I would probably buy the same computer that I have when I buy a new one. The store where I bought my computer is not running over with customer's wanting for a MAC. LOL They are getting some very good advertisement. I will get a demonstration next time I buy. Thank You Very Much, Linda, It is way to easy to hit reply and fire off a message that has nothing to do with the purrpose of Germanna_colonies@rootsweb.com. There are plenty of Computer Help groups out there to get answers to a person's particular problem. If it isn't about Germanna Ancestry go elsewhere is my thought. And, yes snip off everything not needed to make your comment/question/etc regarding Germanna. Also include a clue as to the actual subject is needed. A surname is very helpful in the subject line so one can know whether or not one can just trash without opening. Thanks for hearing me out. Cary
Where's George Durman? I haven't seen a posting from him for several months. Usually, by the time the list discussions get so far astray from genealogy, he's on top of the situation. Honestly, I don't think that flaming somebody, due to their choice of computer or browser, is called for on this list. If you have a problem with what a person says, with regard to such subjects, please have the courtesy of writing to that person PRIVATELY. While I'm on my "soapbox", there is a problem that does affect all of us, who read the postings. There is waaay too much duplication of the originals, when a person is responding to a posting. I'm sure that most of us know how to "clean up" those responses, so that the relevant information we are responding to, is available. There is no necessity for reposting all of the previous postings, when we are responding to only one aspect of one. This takes the people, who are reading the postings a lot of extra time, especially when we receive the list in digest mode. Not only is it time consuming, it puts a lot of unnecessary duplication in the archives, thus using an inordinate amount of storage space. So, as George would say, "Use Snip in your responses." It would be deeply appreciated. Linda Johnston

Yes, indeed they do. Went I went to buy my last one, the store in St. Louis was packed. When I went to get some add-ons and upgrades less than a year ago in Chapel Hill, the place was jammed. So if you want a real computer, free of hassles other than at the store, get a MAC. You won't be disappointed. PC problems with crashes, spam, viruses, warning signals, beeps, booms and buzzers, sluggish performance, fragmented disk drives, continual "computer hospital" isues and impossible directories?
