Cathi - We have no idea about the martial status of Rachel or her reason for coming to Page County. I believe Betty told me that at the time of the reading of Michael's will she was already living here. No there is nothing I can find, but she lived her entire life with her son John Michael, who committed sucicide, by hanging, in his late 50's. Legend is that he had sons who were horse thieves, as there were several sons listed in the census who later disappeared - no records after that. Our court house was burned during the Civil War, therefore that portion of the records were lost. Nicholas Wesley Yager came to Page after his mother had remarried, and he was a very young man and ended up becoming one of the most outstanding citizens and landowner. His son Col William Overall Yager died in 1929, leaving only three daughters. Colonel Yager had a varied background from military, legislator, judge, educator. I believe he served in Texas at some point in his military career. Would be interested in your neighbor who is from Page County. Best Wishes - Paulina (Polly) Campbell PS - Betty Johnson, who lives about 35 miles south, and I are good friends and really enjoy each other's company. It was wonderful finding a "cousin". ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathi Clore Frost" <cathiclorefrost@comcast.net> To: <germanna_colonies@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2008 11:31 AM Subject: Re: [GERMANNA] George W. Hi Shelby, I looked through my notes and can't find anyone who matches your Dick Yeager. I assume Dick was a nickname for Richard? There was a Richard Francis Yager born 28 March 1839, died 12 August 1864 that married Mary or Martha J. Muir 22 December 1860 in Jackson County, Missouri. Hi Joanne, I'm not actually a Yager descendant but am researching the family for a future book on the Yagers that will published by the Germanna Foundation. I do descend from Nicholas' second wife Susanna Klaar/Clore and her brother Michael Clore. There were lots of intermarriages between the Clore and Yager families. You may have corresponded already with Betty Johnson? She is the Yager expert! And probably a fairly close cousin to you as her Yagers were also descendants of the Nicholas, Adam, Michael, John line. I highly recommend her book Following John - you may already have a copy. Betty has helped me lots by sharing her Yager research. Let me know if you want a report showing what I have for your line. I'm just doing the first five generations with Nicholas counting as generation one as those generations alone will make a good sized book. Hi Paulina, I believe that you know Betty Johnson as she has mentioned you. Your line is really interesting, I always wonder who was the father of Rachel Yager's son and did she move to Page County to be near him or to avoid him? Do you have a photo of Rachel? I know she died during the time of early photography so may have never had a photo taken. I would be fun to see what she looked like! An interesting side note, my neighbor here in Oregon is from Page County. We keep joking that we're probably related but just haven't figured out how yet.
