I should have claified that Louisiana was under both Spanish and French rule before it was sold to the US.   My husband is descended from the Adam Gaar - Elilzabeth Kaffie & Peter Weaver & wife Elizabeth though their children: Lewis Gaar & Catherine Weaver's daughter Margaret who married Benjamin Head. It was several of Margaret's children that removed to Louisiana and points beyond. I think it was just about the time that the Louisiana Purchase took place so they may not have actually lived under the three govenments, just America's. Hello List- Once again, the Germanna Foundation/Association is trying to gather information about our ancestors who participated in the Civil War. Ellis Hitt is coordinating. You can send him your information and files electronically at [email protected] . Ellis cannot handle hard files, but if you can scan your old photographs and newspaper articles and the like, send them to him. We do hope to have something interesting together for next year when the 150th anniversary of the Civil War will be taking place. Virginia Nuta
