I think I read somewhere that the longest word is the name of a town in Wales, but I don't have it in front of me. A friend took a photo of the name, across the front of a building there. However, I would think Rettungschwimmeruebungsplatz would have to be a close runner up!! Here's one that I always thought was a doosie. This is one word (63 letters), but I am seperating the compound parts.
