    1. [GERMAN-LIFE] Re: Translation Services
    2. Judy, Your best bet for a reliable translation is to find a freelance German-English translator, rather than to count on the expertise of university students! In my experience, professors already have a full agenda, and have a hard time supervising such projects adequately. If you choose to go through a professional agency (such as Berlitz, who also run a global translation service) you can expect to pay 15 to 20 cents per word (of the English translation). If you use a freelance translator, you will probably pay 12 to 15 cents per word. Of course, if you are asking them to read old handwritten script for you, you ought to be prepared to compensate them for that skill! If you're still interested in locating a translation service or a freelance translator, contact me directly and I can steer you: [email protected] Good luck!
