She was born in Germany, too. Actually, sushi comes in a lot of varieties, served cold, but some of it is cooked. There is a squash sushi that is positively yummy. It's made with a piece of spiced squash, surrounded by rice and wrapped in a seaweed leaf. Dipped in rice wine vinegar it is excellent! I always ask for it for a treat when I babysit my grandkids (as if I needed incentive!) Cathy
