That makes three of us in Deutschland in the month of May, except, of course, those with the privilege of living there. My own trip was from 3 May to 14 May und from Stuttgart to Spaichingen to Konstanz to Chur, Schweiz to Basel, Schweiz to Strassbourg, Frankreich to Heidelberg to Burbach,NRW to Amsterdam und back to Minneapolis. Quite a bit of travelling, but I tried to see everything, with the idea that I will not make it back. Probably could have stayed another five days und taken in Essex, Scotland und Ireland. Now I will have to make another trip to the British Isles. If I go again, I would like to be able to get a bicycle, und probably concentrate on jiust Württemberg. I must have walked 50 k, sometimes because I wanted to. Still I should have left my laptop at home und brought some rollerblades. My favorite place, although I liked Spaichingen, Konstanz, und Chur, was the village of Seitingen-Oberflacht. Church very high on a hill there, with a two meter wall. Reminded me of times when towns were not safe from marauding armies. Cemetery there with many familiar names. The hill gives a good view of the villages. In Oberflacht, there is a memorial with a statue of St. Michael holding up a sword. It is dedicated to the fallen of the two world wars. Again many familiar names, probably every one was a distant relative of my mom. I wanted to get back for a Saturday night or Sunday mass, but did not have the transportation. I am not sure if I could have rented a car. Would I need a special license to drive in Europe? Language und diet were also problematic, but I solved some of the latter by bringing my own food.
