    3. Could have been the case. I am hearkening back to 1944-1945 when, as I recall, these matters were being discussed. I was in a mechanical drafting class at the time and a physics class. I did not take chemistry so I cannot make the same association you make. For me, it was an impressive idea. I was more interested (?) in foreign language at the time. I studied Spanish all four years to no utilitarian purpose, it turns out. I studied German 101 at Michigan State, also in 1945, under a Mrs. AXELROD, a giant of a woman with a heavy accent, also to no particular purpose since then (until now).
