    3. Hi everyone! Just letting you know that the lists are back up and running again so to "celebrate" our return I'm initiating a first ever Surname Shout Out. A Surname Shout Out works like a Roll Call where we all post an ancestor we're totally stumped on. Please be sure to add vital statistics like date of birth, death, marriage, etc. Happy Hunting! 3. I am looking for my grandfather John Merkel born in 1868 to John Merkel and Barbara Reichenberger. That is all the info I have on him. Don't know where he came from but am leaning towards Thuringia. 3. You do know not all areas of Germany contribute information in their archives, right? I know personally from my own research. 3. You're right on the mark. Yes and no to Barb's question - It depends on what FamilySearch and Ancestry have. Ancestry generally do not have church records for Germany, they do have for civil records for certain areas. Neither have Bavaria's most records which is a sore point for many of us. David S.
