If your parish was located in the former East Germany, most of those books have not yet been filmed, as the East German Regime did not allow filming of documents during its reign. Also, because the socialist government did not encourage churches, some of the church books are "in a mess' as a researcher from the former East Germany told me. I have had mixed reactions, in writing to churches: at the first one I found a researcher who really helped me a lot, at other churches I did not even get a reply, or a short letter that they are not interested in helping. Also getting different addresses for what seemed to be the same parish, did not really help.
